Dare to Be Feisty!-Join the
Revolution!
January is a month for dreaming. I
know I am not alone here, so I wanted to share a
few thoughts with you as we unwrap our sparkly
new calendars. How do we move from
resolutions to disillusions so quickly?
Well, I think it is because we tend to set
unrealistic intentions for ourselves.
As you can see from my picture here, I
have always been a little Feisty! I think I
was born with it. Recently, I was searching
through my childhood photos and found some great
photographs that that actually startled and
delighted me when I discovered them. The images
showed me-in living color-that I have always had
this part of my personality and being a bit
feisty is apparently deep in my nature (more to
be posted soon!). I guess I am living my true
authentic self! Many women who contact me tell
me they would not consider themselves Feisty.I
always chuckle, because what I know is that
every woman is Feisty, we have to be to do what
we are out there doing every day. Raising
families, solo-preneuring, leading
mega-corporations!
This past year I have been honored to
watch several women step right into what they
stated they wanted for themselves for 2006.
Carol
Webster's article has hit the newsstands.
This was her 2006 intention. Well happy day
Carol, you did it! Congratulations! You stand as
Feisty proof to all of us, of what is possible,
(see this months Cloth,
Paper, Scissors magazine for Carol’s
article).
Another client was in a awful–and I
mean awful-working environment. She was
eager to change her job and find people who
would acknowledge her gifts and talents, and not
abuse them. Although it took a bit of time and
perseverance, she got her New Year’s wish, a
great job, with a great company, better benefits
and a peaceful working environment! Amen!
So what’s their secret
to success? Here are the ingredients:
Courage, creativity, determination, and a
healthy dose of Feisty Spirit!
I don't know about you,
but I am someone who needs to take things one
step at a time. Mind you, I have been known
to leap, but I'm also a Capricorn, and there has
to be some firm foundation under this goat's
feet in order for me to jump.
And so I confess, I like
a little planning mixed into my dreaming.
When I first started teaching my classes and
workshops, I shared with women that I had never
created a formal business plan. Yes, it's
true-no plan-yet over the years, I have come to
see the importance and value in writing up a
formal plan when evaluating new concepts and
ideas. And so each January, I set intentions for
my year.
Without setting
intentions we have what is known as the tail
wagging the dog syndrome. I have to
admit, I have been as guilty of it as anyone,
and I am working this year to truly move my life
and business in the directions that fit my
vision.
Many times the tail wagging the dog
syndrome is born out of fear. We see
what other people are doing, we get a panicky
feeling that we are not doing enough and then we
add this to our list of should's. At least, I
should speak for myself here. The caution when
we move to fear is to pile on things that don't
really resonate with OUR life or business.
As you look to what is next for you in
2007, I invite you to take some time to sit
quietly and ask...When I step out of my
fear around what others are doing to create
their businesses, what do I see for MY business
that allows me to step firmly in the direction
of MY DREAMS.
So here is my dream for 2007, that all
women uncover their Feisty spirit, discover
their authentic selves and step boldly in the
direction of their dreams.
Go ahead...Dare to Be Feisty!
